Inder Dhingra

Pension Trusteeship

Inder is an independent pension trustee and an experienced senior executive from the financial services industry.  He serves as a director of Law Debenture, representing the firm on the trustee boards of a number of large pension schemes including as chair of investment committees.

He is a trustee director of the Lloyds Banking Group’s primary DC pension scheme, and chair of the Group’s DC investment committee, encompassing all DC arrangements across the Group with over £2billion in assets. 

Particular Expertise

  • Governance – ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities and accountabilities; involving each member on the board in decision-making; maintaining good working relationships with all stakeholders; and ensuring high standards of legal and regulatory compliance
  • DC schemes – strategic reviews of DC funds, the default fund design and the lifecycle choices for members
  • DB scheme – experience of leading triennial valuations and negotiations (including on behalf of the employer) and implementing contingent asset-backed contribution structures
  • Investment strategy – risk management, introduction of LDI, agreeing dynamic de-risking trigger mechanisms and managing asset diversification

Background

Inder’s career has spanned financial services, business, academia and engineering. Prior to joining Law Debenture he spent two decades working in banking covering treasury, finance, risk management, pensions and insurance. His last role at Lloyds Banking Group was as senior executive with group-wide responsibility for market and liquidity risk.
