The need to focus on the investment objectives of pension funds was emphasised – as was the need to keep the return targets in mind and monitor against them.
David confirmed his view that fixed income investment was getting more complicated. He also stressed the growing need for the proper training of all concerned and a focus on governance.
With regard to governance, he confirmed that LawDeb Pension Trustees are not advocates of any particular governance model and work with all frameworks. He emphasised the importance of ensuring a scheme’s activity was in sync with the development of its de-risking path and the movement of funds into these assets. David confirmed that:
