Mike Jaffe

Director

Mike joined LawDeb in 2016 following almost 30 years working in financial services, including eight years in private equity with Henderson and ten years in investment banking with UBS. He has worked with pension trustee boards since 2007.

Mike represents LawDeb on various pension schemes up to £13 billion in size. He acts as chair on four appointments (of which two have FTSE250 sponsors), and chairs two audit committees. Mike has worked with a broad range of scheme sponsors including asset managers, law firms, manufacturing and retail businesses and regulated utilities.

Mike is an investment specialist with significant experience in inflation and interest rate hedging, de-risking strategies and alternative investments. His background in accounting, investment banking and private equity supports his understanding of the sponsor perspective and ability to reach swift resolution of recovery plan negotiations and situations involving corporate transactions. Recent examples include the corporate acquisition by private equity of a FTSE250 listed sponsor requiring coordination with multiple parties including The Pensions Regulator, and business disposals involving Flexible Apportionment Agreements.

Mike is a chartered accountant and Cambridge alumnus with an MA in Engineering and is driven by a desire to improve the efficiency of the schemes he works with to the benefit of both members and sponsors. Mike is a keen sailor and regular competitor in marathon and triathlon events.
