Case Study: Volunteering with the Pensions Ombudsman
At LawDeb we are involved with a wide variety of industry bodies. We believe there is great value in sharing learnings as we work to raise standards across the industry. An example of this is Mandy Seal, a Senior Pensions Executive in our pension governance business, who volunteers with The Pensions Ombudsman (‘TPO’).

Mandy leads LawDeb’s pensions administration solutions, and her experience is this space is incredibly valuable for the work she undertakes in this voluntary role.
- Following her training Mandy was allocated as a volunteer TPO advisor within the ‘Early Resolution Service’ which aims to address addresses member complaints before they escalate.
- As a result of her TPO training, Mandy was able to add value to the LawDeb Pensions governance business, Pegasus, by delivering training on handling complaints and providing hints and tips gleaned from her long career working with Third Party Administrators.
- As well as working to improve member experience, Mandy has encouraged her LawDeb colleagues to be confident in the way in which they deal with members who have expressed dissatisfaction, or who may be struggling to understand the often-complex world of pensions.
- These insights have also enhanced the way in which we support Third Party Administrators when dealing with member complaints, in setting clear guidelines about how best to manage a member’s expectations, and also to promote clear and easy to understand member communication.
