Companies House has announced the start date for mandatory Identity Verification as 18 November 2025. What is the identity verification requirement for Directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs)?
With the official start date for mandatory Identity Verification now confirmed as 18 November 2025, Companies House has released further guidance on when Directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) will be required to submit their Companies House Personal Code following this date.
Directors
• Directors must submit their Companies House Personal Code as part of the Confirmation Statement for each of their directorships.
• New Directors will need to obtain and submit their Personal Code upon appointment, including during the incorporation process.
PSCs
• PSCs who are also Directors of the company they have significant control over must submit their Personal Code within 14 days of the company’s Confirmation Statement.
• PSCs who are not Directors must submit their Personal Code within the first 14 days of their birth month.
• New PSCs will have 14 Days from registration to submit their Personal Code
Relevant Legal Entities (RLEs)
• If a PSC is not an Individual but a Relevant Legal Entity, it is expected that a Relevant Officer will need to be appointed. We await further guidance from Companies House on next steps for corporate entities.
