Steve has represented Law Debenture as a professional trustee since 2000. He is involved with 15 pension schemes of varying sizes and complexity. For a number of these schemes he acts as chairman and is involved in their investment, audit, funding and special situations sub-committees.
- Investments – all aspects of investment including liability management initiatives, buy-ins and buy-outs and investment options for substantial DC schemes
- External relationship management – including sponsors (in connection with major corporate transactions); scheme members; the Pension Protection Fund; and the Pensions Regulator
- Schemes in transition – including schemes in wind-up; regulated apportionment arrangements; closure to future accrual; and administrative change
Steve is a chartered accountant and has been involved with pensions in a number of capacities since the late 1980s. He worked at an international City bank with various pension responsibilities. He established a successful pension audit practice at Moore Stephens where he also had responsibility for national pensions training and technical issues and was a trustee of the firm’s own pension scheme.
He is involved with various pensions bodies including an actuarial committee of the Financial Reporting Council, PRAG, OPDU and the PLSA South London. He has chaired PLSA training courses, spoken at conferences and written about pension risk. He is a governor of London South Bank University.
