James Rickards

Director

James represents Law Debenture across a number of different schemes both as Chair, co-trustee and as Corporate Sole Trustee. His clients include financial institutions, government agencies and well-known names in engineering and retail.

James’ background as a pensions lawyer (he practiced as a barrister at the Pensions Bar and as a lawyer at the Pensions Regulator) gives him a strong communication and analytical skill set. In particular, he enjoys working collaboratively with fellow trustees, sponsors and advisers and reducing the complex into the simple.

His current appointments (that include off-shore schemes) are busy in terms of de-risking and associated insurance transactions. He is also sought after for his experience of litigation, regulatory issues and general governance. He holds an LLM in Commercial Law from the London School of Economics.

Away from work, James enjoys running around after his two children, wine, cooking, kitesurfing and motorbikes.
